De-Winterizing
Tornseglare is getting ready for sailing season! Last weekend our friend Jason helped us schlepp everything out to the boat from winter storage and belayed the motor to be successfully re-installed (thanks, Jason!), and today we put everything in its right place.
We spent a cozy night onboard last night and tried out Fisky Business (good food, great cocktails, still figuring out service but our ultimate server was great). This morning we woke to sunshine and coffee, ate our overnight oats then got to work.
We raised the boom and drained the water and pulled it way to the side, that was smart!
Things were very cramped below deck and I scratched the foam lining above the sink with a screw on the canopy, that was not smart!
Raising the main sail: would be better to run along the boom first then attach the slugs to the mast
Pennywise but pound foolish: it was expensive to store our sails professionally last year so we just kept them in the attic this year. But we forgot to unfold them and it looks like they got some mold. :(
We need to FULLY empty the water tank even though it’s a pain to detach it, we only drained it to where the intake goes out and now there’s some icky water in there.
We found where the light switches on the fore/aft and mast are! Only took us 2 years 🤣 Only one currently works. 😬
Tornseglare looks pretty after some hard swabbing of the decks!
